First UK birth following womb transplant 👀

In a groundbreaking UK-first, a woman named Grace has given birth to a healthy baby girl following a successful womb transplant- the result of over 25 years of research. Born without a functioning womb, Grace received a transplant from her sister, Amy, in August 2023 through the Womb Transplant UK living donor programme.

The transplant was carried out at the Oxford Transplant Centre. Baby Amy Isabel, born in February 2025, was named in honour of both her aunt and one of the lead surgeons.

This remarkable achievement offers new hope for women that are unable to carry a child.

Definitely! This really provides hope for those that are unable to carry a child, and the comments from NHS’s LinkedIn’s post really show how supportive the public is about this!
